And we need to buy them both new shoes. One says that he wants Incredible Hulk shoes, but the other says that they are too old for character shoes....which one is right? Are character shoes still okay for 2nd graders?

  1. I'm a twin and getting to be different, and seperate is important to me. I'm fraternal, but individuality is still something you seek and fight for. Let the one get Hulk shoes and the other pick which ones he wants, just like you would any single child.

  2. yes!!!!  I am a teacher in Brooklyn and 2nd graders are still little kids! If your son want Incredible Hulk shoes and you can get them for him go for it! It sounds like you have 2 great little boys who are showing their individuality!

PS I know 4th graders with spiderman shoes!

  3. Children mature at different speeds.  It's fascinating that one twin has outgrown cartoon figures and the other hasn't yet.  For the one that hasn't, I say cartoon sneaks are fine.

  4. id let them decide what they want maybe one is more mature than the other character shoes are ok for 2nd grade let them choose their own shoes  Hope this helps

  5. At their age it's up to the kid.  Some children will outgrow their childhood cartoons faster than others.  If one wants Hulk and one wants LeBron James' shoes, neither is wrong.

  6. my brother is also going into 2nd grade

he's always had big brothers (me) so he gets the shoes I wear like the basketball shoes and running shoes

he recently bought a pair of nike shox

,but my favorite shoes are the under armour pro trainers there like $50 on eastbay

  7. how cool is that, that they are the same but different!!!

let them wear what they pick out and want to.. it really dosen't matter at this age, they are just asserting their independance from you and each other.. let them make the choice and just go with the flow!!

  8. Not really.. 7 year olds are not really too old for character shoes. It still depends on the one who's gonna wear it: if he/she thinks he's still fit to wear such shoes, then let him/her, and vice versa. If they have different preferences, then it's just best to buy them a different pair of shoes.

  9. Yes its fine, and obviously your sons

    have different personalities. Its fine,

if one boy thinks its "uncool" its fine.

    They are still in.

  10. I think character shoes are fine. My daughter is 6 but she's as tall as an 8 year old. I've noticed that at least for little girls' clothes, fashion seems to outpace the child in that a lot of clothing for kids looks like a teenager's outfit shrunk down to size.

I'd be happy that he still likes the Hulk stuff. It shows you a couple of things: First, he's still a kiddo and it doesn't look like he's going to go all angsty on you. Second, if he still wants them after his brother, his twin no less, says he's too old for them, he doesn't care so much what others think. It shows a strong sense of self and that should be fostered.

  11. I have 9 yr old twins and they are a lot like yours.  My older one really believes that the one minute older he is is the equivalent of 10 years maturity.  He likes to dress up for school, doesn't like character clothing, and would be happy to sit in front of the TV or computer for 12 hours a day.  His twin walks to the beat of his own drum.  For example, last year he wore a santa hat to school from before Christmas break through spring break.  My husband hated it, but I told him that if he wanted to wear it, go ahead.  I warned him that there would be people who would probably make fun of him.  I said "If you're happy wearing it, ignore them.  They don't have to wear it."  He wore it and was happy to be able to do what he liked.

Let them choose and develop their own sense of self.  Let them be confident in themselves and not worry too much about what everyone else thinks or does.

  12. Figure it out.  You're the parent.  You've got a tough road in front of you if you're already listening to your children, which happen to be boys.

  13. Neither one is right or wrong.

Let the one who wants the character shoes get/wear them.  Let your other son pick out the shoes he would like to wear.  They're individuals who will grow/grow up on their own time schedule.

  14. i think charecter shoes are still okay but in about a month or so they wont like the character anymore so it would be better to buy regular shoes

  15. Just get them what they want. Get the one who wants Hulk shoes those shoes and just get something else for the same price for the other one.

  16. Yes, they are fine.  Let the one who wants character shoes to have them, and the other boy the ones he wants.  They most likely won't be in the same classroom anyway.

  17. No, not at all lol. I would just let your one son get the incredible hulk shoes, and the other son let him pick the other pair out. But no, there not too old lol

  18. I don't think it really matters, as long as the boy likes him. I remember I thought I was too old for character shoes in 2nd grade.

  19. i think that the one who wants the hulk shoes should get them and the one who doesn't want them should get shoes that he likes. I am a twin and i never liked it when my parents dressed us alike. i also didnt like when they compared our thoughts on things. i think that they should ever think that they are too old for something if they still enjoy it.

  20. I think character shoes are just fine for second graders if they want them. I would just buy them ech the pair that they want. 1 gets the hulk shoes the other gets whatevr kind he likes.

  21. They are okay, and you can get one the character shoes and get the other normal ones.

  22. i think it's ok for then to wear character shoes.my brother is 7 and he wants character stuff, just like his friends.and they don't have to wear the same shoes.

  23. why does it matter? your kid wants a character shoe. then they should be able to get them. its not like your forcing them to get that kind of shoe you know? they know what kids like..

  24. The one who wants the Incredible Hulk shoes should be allowed to have them. And the one who doesn't want character shoes should pick out shoes that he likes. Being a twin, I know how frustrating it was when my mom tried to dress us alike all the time. If they have different tastes, you should let them shine! ;)

  25. Sure, if that's what he wants then they are perfect. Don't make them buy the same pair though. This is a great way that they are showing you their independence from each other.

  26. Whatever they want. If one thinks character shoes are cooler than, lets say, Nike's or Sketchers, get them that. If they're different that's okay. Like some middle schoolers are wearing Abercrombie and American Eagle, and others are wearing Gap and Old Navy, whatever fits they're personality.

  27. Well, you are the mother, your call the shots. If the shoes are not too expensive, and the one wants the character shoes, why not let him. If the other one wants "big boy" shoes, that's his call. There is no right or wrong answer here. Usually twins with want to dress alike, and it is good they each have their own individual personality and experience.

  28. well, get the one twin that likes the hulk shoes, the hulk shoes and the twin that doesn't like character shoes, regular shoes.

  29. They're still okay....one has outgrown them and the other hasn't is all.  Half the kids in second grade will have them, half won't. Neither one will be left out or uncool.

  30. oh yeah totally still fine. my step sisters are 11 and 10 and they both still wear character shoes.

Just let them wear what they want. though they are twins doesnt mean they gotta dres the same

  31. They're 7. Buy them what they each want. They don't both need hulk shoes. I think that the one is just maturing way faster.
