So its inbound, for a major phone company mainly taking calls from customers in regards to billing inquiries, etc. basically customer service. so anyways they said its commision based and will require sales, for example, if the customer calls the UK a lot to offer them a package that fits their international calling habits. so im a bit worried, because i hear that some call centers cut you off if you dont make the sale or make quotas....if you know anything about this job, please please please respond and tell me all you know or even your previous or present experience working in a call center doing only inbound calls but having to sell too....thank you

  1. Not too worry too much.  The information on your screen is designed to help the customer save money while, at the same time building such a strong relationship with the customer that he is not tempted to jump ship.

Who wouldn't want to save money on calls to the UK?  If you increase the number of features on your telephone -- add callerid, automatic callback, etc, you'll save money.  Nothing wrong with that.  You can even get your wireless and your satellite TV for a cheaper price as part of a package with some phone companies.

These are all pretty good deals for the people you're talking with.  You'll do fine.

  2. Ask the company that you are working for about their commission structure. With most companies, they start you out with a "guaranteed" commission for the first month or two or three, so that you get the hang of sales. Your boss/team lead will inform you of your sales quotas on a monthly basis. Because it's an inbound cusotmer service center, your commission shouldn't be astronomical or anything. You will have an attainable quota. You will also have a script that you will follow when helpsing cusotmers. Most systems from companies will have a screen with services to offer the customer that you are on the phone with.
