I'm recycling soda cans - are soup cans made of the same material?

I'm just wondering before I throw it in the same bag as the soda cans! Thanks!! : )

  2. soda cans since the 1960's are aluminum. Food on the other hand is put in steel cans in the USA.

    Most soup cans are made of tin/steel metal.

    So no, they aren't the same material. But don't worry and just dump it in the same recycling bin, because they will be separated during the recycling process.

  6. if you are taking them to a scrap yard yourself then you need to seperate steel is about 3 cents a pound whereas alum... is about 69 cents per pound

  7. are you saving the soda cans for money or just for the local recycling pick up?if saving for money keep them separate soda cans aluminium and soup cans tin/steel combo.If just for the recycle bin keep together they get separated at the plant
