  1. Make sure you pass all your classes.

Let's say you get halfway through the first semester.  You have A's in one half of your classes, and D's in the other half.  Start concentrating less of your time on the A classes, and more time on the D classes.  It might be that you're naturally better in some classes than others, or they might be easier classes.  Don't worry about keeping the A's.

And if you're stressed out, do the same thing.  Study less, but spend more of your time working on the grades that are in danger of failing.

There's nothing wrong with straight C's.

Also, make sure you have those sylibi (make copies) and make sure you have a firm understanding of how the grading system works in each of your classes.

  2. The biggest suggestion I have is to not get too caught up in the party scene.  Yes, it's fun to go out, but prioritize and make sure your homework is done first.  If you need help, ask for it.  Other than that, try not to get on your roommates nerves too much, because they have access to all of your stuff.  You may end up with a bunch of glitter in your bedsheets or something.  Also, decorate your walls.  It tends to look more like a prision cell than a dorm room if you don't.

  3. Get a place off campus and don't get fat. Everyone I know who went to school for culinary arts (okay, so that's 3 people) is overweight! You'll be cooking a lot of good stuff, so rather than eating it all, feed it to your friends!

  4. Stay active in college and don't get involved in stupid stuff.  Remember, if you wouldn't do it around your parents, don't bother doing it else where.  That's what my older sister told me.

And here's a blog about school stuff that someone passed along to me.  Helped me a bit.

    Good luck!

  5. I'd probably catch a lot of c**p for saying this but go have fun.  College was the best time of my life.  Make sure you have fun.  Obviously you are there to study, but some of the people I knew at school got so wrapped up into studying and making sure that they got straight A's that they didn't enjoy it.  It was more of that they HAD to go and didn't want to go.

  6. Stay focused on your goals. Do not let social activities draw you away from your goals.  Keep your studies as your priority and you will do well.  It is okay to have a life outside of your studies but do not let it take over and push the studies aside.  Good luck!
