  1. When mounting the scope it should be set to the way it is best for you. Before you tighten the scope on you should bring it upand shoulder the weapon as if you were firing it. Now with your cheek up against the butt stock, look through the scope. Can you see the entire target reticle? If not then you need to adjust (slide) the scope forward or backwards on the mount so that when you bring the gun up you should be able to see the entire field of view. Now once you have that set. tighten it down. Not too tight being that most sight rails and s***w are alluminum and can strip somewhat easily. As a final check you should, lower the gun as if you were walking with it normally; close your eyes and bring the gun up and seat it properly in your shoulder as if you were going to fire. Now open your eyes and you should be able to see clearly through the scope and be able to see the entire FOV like before. If not then you have more work to do. Good Luck!

  2. Hand tight and do not over tighten with a wrench as it is possible to damage your scope depending on your rings.

I would not recommend nail polish or lock tight if you ever intend on changing your scope or selling your gun. i seem to break a torque bit or two every time i go to swap scopes with nothing extra on them.

personally i like to tighten the s***w in a clock wise sequence and continue until all screws are firm (tightening one side can loosen another) the most important thing to to make sure you have the correct eye relief for where you place your head on the gun and have the cross hairs straight.

once you have mounted your scope and at the range set you parallax (focus) for the distance your are shooting. when properly set you can move your head and the cross hairs will not move to insure you shoot where you are aimed even though you head may not be in the exact same place. so many people think their scope is improperly mounted when it is actually a parallax issue (especially at distance). remember you may not be in "perfect" focus when the parallax is correct.

    Good shooting

  3. tight -and put nail polish on the screws so they stay that way
