I was looking through my dad's old coins that he's been collecting and I read somewhere that any pennies before 1934 you should definately keep and they are worth something. Could anyone estimate how much?

  1. From coins.about.com, for average-grade coins, a dealer will pay you 50c to $1.  Perhaps you could get more on eBay.

BUT, the site says, as the condition improves, the price can increase substantially.

The individual dates can have starkly different values, if you find a 1909-S VDB, you're looking at $550.

  2. wow i didnt know that... gonna check then also!!!

  3. yes. 1 cent

  4. I say a posting on E-Bay selling a 1933 penny for $4.99.  I do not know, however, if it is actually worth that.

  5. They are not really worth anything right now but you should hold on to them. They are called wheat pennies.
