I'd like to sample opinions as to how many horses could live together on an acre of land comfortably. A friend wants to put 2 horses there, I want to put 2, and this girl wants to put 1 more giving 5 total horses. Is that too many? What do you think the maximum number of horses could live together in a paddock 1 acre in size?
The horses won't be getting their food from the land, we'll be providing them bails of hay and grain. The entire acre will be fenced in with a shelter for bad weather. There will also be a round pen and the horses will be worked quite a bit by us for exercise.
