How longs should you wait to call a potential employer back after a interview?

I've worked in hotels for over 5 years now..

I'd say this... Listen closely to what they told you in the interview..  at most hotels, if they need someone, they'll be willing to start you right away.  same day, next day, etc, etc.  If they like you, but don't have a spot for you right now, they'll say something along those lines.

Call them after about a week, and see what they say, paying attention.  During the call, towards the end, ask them if it would be ok for you to call back again in another 3 days or so, and follow up with whatever you agree on.

Usually after an interview you are told they will be in contact with you, especially since the position needs to be filled supposedly soon.  I would call back in about 3 days to 1 week to keep your name available and your interest in the position still showing.
