How do you promote a discussion forum?

Hi all, I am a member of an Australian discussion forum, and we need more members. It is for general discussion, ranging from politics, international affairs and society over to food and entertainment. The forum is called Australian Opinion, here's the link: http://www.australianopinion.com

How can I (and the owners of the site) go about promoting it?

1 - Use Social Bookmarking and ask the hotshots to bookmark it and sent it to there friend.

2- Go to related forums find the right place and write about it there.Use the off topic discussion or a related thread.

Notice that not all forums allow this links.
