I moved to MN from Wisconsin. My wisconsin license is revoked for one year (until next April) but I am eligible for an Occupational license (limited license) that would allow me to drive to and from work and to the grocery store in Wisconsin. How can I get a Minnesota occupational license?

  1. This is the info that I got from the Minnesota DMV:

If your license has been revoked or suspended, you may still be able to drive under restricted conditions. For instance, you might be allowed to drive to and from work, school, or your chemical dependency treatment center. If you have any dependent children, you may also be able to provide transportation for them.

However, to be considered for a limited license, you must have served your mandatory waiting period and meet other requirements.

Call the driver's license line at (651) 296-6911 for more information on limited licenses.

  2. You'll have to contact the DMV for information like that, your license is personal and you qualified in WI, but that doesn't mean MN has to acknowledge that. They(MN)likely have the same type of program available, you'll have to contact them though. Be prepared to have all of your WI paperwork available, you'll likely have to be employed in MN before you can apply.
