How do I build a website for selling?

Question

Hi,

I have tried building my own website but am not very good at it. I want a professional online shop for selling dvd's, games, consoles etc in the UK....one with a search option. like Amazon or HMV has.....I have a real shop but i want to reach more customers. I don't have a big budget though so i can't hire anyone to do it for me.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

If you are unable to build your own website then you will probably have to hire someone to do it for you. It will not be cheap so you may want to take some time and play around with the free sites to get a feel of how to design your site.

Here is another great site that is cheap... For $12 you can get a website that includes 1 page, a blog and a message board for a year. For $25 you can create your own domain name (ex: www.yourwebsite.com) --> http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=99398&...   ... hi! why don't you go to amazon it self, and ebay! if you don't know much about building a web page for your business, you can open a virtual store there. Get a free wepage in freewebs.com and join the amazon associates program so you could sell your items on that page...they'll give you the HTML codes so you can copy and paste it on your web, besides, you can win a  percentage for all things you sell from their adds too...see for example my store  on my blog...see the corner on the right...http://tubeth.blogspot.com good luck, hope it helps!!

You have to incorporate a shopping cart into your site for the shopping and checkout portions of the site. I use Paypal shopping cart because it is easier for me to take payments. That also means thatyou will have one page for nearly every item you sell (or you could put two or three on a page. It's really not that hard if you follow paypal's instructions.

As for the search, it's a fairly easy thing to put on. You can get a free PHP script for that if you google something like free PHP scripts. take a look at my site and you can see how I incorporated the shopping cart. http://nosnoops.com
