I really want a purity ring , but it's kind of weird to ask my parents for it..because then we'd have to talk about "it" and stuff..and I don't like getting into that. my friends have it and I think it's really cool and I would be very proud to have one too.

  1. I thought it would be awkward too, but it really wasn't.

My family isn't religious at all.

When i asked i asked my mom not in front of my dad because i'm closer with my mom and feel more comfortable talking about stuff like that with her, but of course i would tell my dad later.

Anyway i just said "Mom can i have a purity ring?"

And she said sure. I was like do you even know what that is?

And she's like "Something about meditation."

I was like "Noo lol, it means you stay a virgin until marriage"

She was really happy and thought it was a great idea lol! (course)

But the point is it wasn't embarrassing or uncomfortable.

You parents will be happy you have decided to make that choice.

    Good Luck!

  2. I'm sure you could just tell them why you want one. It's not a bad thing to have one, but make sure you are getting one because you want one. Having a purity ring means you are promising to abstain from s*x until marriage. It's a big commitment and not something to take lightly. Don't just get one because your friends are or just because the jobros have them.

This kind of commitment should be seen as a promise to yourself and not just a trend.

  3. Say,

"Mom, Dad: I have decided to abstain from s*x until I'm married, do you think I could get a purity ring?"

I can feel you they'll be pretty excited about your decision.

  4. I know it's kind of uncomfortable to bring the topic up with your parents, but the fact is that they'll be delighted that you want to live a pure life.

You don't need to have an in depth conversation with them about s*x, you just need to state your decision and ask for their co-operation in helping you acquire a ring.

I have a website http://stores.ebay.com/The-Promise-Ring-... that has loads more information about purity rings if you want to learn more. Maybe you can check out the rings before you talk to your parents so you can work out exactly what you're asking for.

  5. If you "really" want this purity ring and you want it from your parents you will have to speak to them about "it." Talking to your parents about s*x isn't that bad, depending on the relationship you have with your parents you may end up laughing... or at least blushing. What the other guy said about staying away from parties, that is something that you should decide on your own. Not ALL people get drunk or use drugs and become sexual. The urges and feelings are only amplified by their usage, you have to learn to control yourself. Getting back on subject, don't be afraid to talk to your parents. Your parents can become your best friends if you give them the chance... I know, its scary.

  6. Ooh, I'm going through the same thing (:

Just tell them that you want one. Trust me, they'll feel more awkward about talking about "it" than you.
