How Can I Prove My Manager I'm Right For The Job.

I'm Applying for a 2ic Position at work and my manager told the current 2ic i would get it but she doesn't think i could direct the older women in the work place.

i belive its not my problem i belive if the older women cannot take directions from a younger person then its their problem and i shouldn't be told i cant have the posisiton.

please helppppp im going to talk to her tommorw.

  1. if part of the job is giving direction to these older employees then that is your problem.................................

    if the manager who is making the decision about the promotion does not feel you can do the job then you must find a way to prove you can. you need to demonstrate you have the ability to be a leader, to train and then delegate, to lead while working side by side, to be firm but fair, to set high standards and communicate those standards. you must show you are the best person for the job, so basically you must prove the manager wrong.

    you are not owed a promotion and if you are unable to lead and unable to gain the respect of those you work with then you should not get the promotion.


  2. as long as u have respect. don't raise your voice and always show respect.to your elders. if u weren't right for the job u wouldn't have it...
