Hello, I really want to know what happened to my Grandmother.

ID ASK MY DAD BUT HE IS AN ***.

HER NAME IS PHYLLIS CLARK

MARRIED name PHYLLIS DOWNES. born in victoria. apparantly she was institutionlised in a Mental Home? so i was told? or led to believe?... can any one help me find all records pertaining to my grandmother please.. i would be forever greatful thanks.. just point me in the right direction..

try asking someone registered to an ancestory site they might be able to look up some death records

Is it Victoria BC? Victoria Australia? Another Victoria?

We need to know the right country so that we can look in the right place.

This is a very sticky question.  PBS & BBC News had reports on this recently.  Many mental institution records are still sealed, even to family members decades after death of the patient.  Don't blame your father; he probably doesn't know a thing!  A cousin of mine believed his poor grandmother had died a raving maniac, not realizing mental institutions held elderly, senile, and Alzheimer's patients; mentally challenged (often physically challenged too); severely depressed; suicidal; PTSD; post-partum depression; alcoholic and drug-addicted, etc.    Your grandmother may simply have been old and incapacitated!   When you find out her reason, tell your father & relieve his fears!
