Having problems with Nikon Coolpix L18 Camera?

Question

Whenever I try to upload pictures from my camea to my computer It won't work. Most of the time the camera will show up for a little while then just go away after I click Start Transfer. Then sometime nothing will happen after I click Star Transfer. Everything is up to date on my computer. (By the way my computer is Windows XP) I think it's a problem with the memory card because I was able to get 5 pictures off of the camera. Should I take it to a store to get it fixed because i really want to keep the pictures. I think just need to get a new memory card. Anything that might help me I'll be VERY thankful for.

My Nikon Coolpix L18 Eats Up Battery After Battery! It may stay on 5 Seconds with a Brand New Set of Batteries! Is it Defective? I've Had it since Christmas Day of 2008. Maybe Should I Contact Nikon?
