Have the Red Sox gone too defensive?

The Red Sox now have only one recogniseable power bat in their line-up and have a lack of protection for him. They have decided to concentrate on defence and pitching to try and get to the play-offs.
They might be better than last year but are they good enough to win in the post-season.
