Havana Gold to bring back the Somerville Tattersall Stakes for trainer, Richard Hannon
The winning trainer of the Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes, twice out of the last three editions, Richard Hannon, is being represented by two entries for adding the 2012 feather in his cap. He won it with Crius in 2011, and with Sir Parky, in 2009.
Six more two-year-old contestants will try their luck over the seven furlongs track at Newmarket on Thursday, 27th September. The alluring prize money for the race is £22,684.
To ensure success for a third time now, and to cover considerable ground for executing the plan, Richard Hannon has entered Havana Gold and Glean. The more promising among the two is the evening’s favourite, Havana Gold.
Unbeaten in three out of the four starts of the career, the two-year-old bay colt just has a single bruise on the record due to a start in which he was declared unraced.
Teofilo’s bay colt cleared his maiden on the very first asking.
He won the Fly London Southend To Belfast E B F Maiden Stakes (Division II) on 9th June, 2012 at Newmarket over six furlongs. In companionship with jockey, Ryan Moore, the two-year-old raced across the wire by the margin of 1 ½ lengths.
The favourite entry for breaking the maiden, Pearl Acclaim, settled second.
The Irish bay colt then proved himself in the very next outing of the career. He came out victorious from the Foundation Developments Novice Stakes on 20th July, 2012 at Ascot race course over seven furlongs.
The favourite entry was this time paired up with the stable jockey, Richard Hughes, and the duo defeated Discernable, by 1 ¾ lengths.
Settling third behind the pair was, Glass Office.
Just when he had the chance to strike a hat-trick, the two-year-old out of, Jessica’s Dream, unseated the rider, Ryan Moore, and was categorised as unraced.
Havana Gold had the most recent success post through the Betfred “Still Treble Odds On Lucky 15’S” Stakes (Registered As The Ascendant Stakes) (Listed Race) on 8th September, 2012 at Haydock over a mile.
The stable jockey brought the mount to the wire just at a head’s mark from the reeling in rival, Al Waab.
The trainer also has his hopes associated with the 12 to 1 entry, Glean.
