Has any one used the financial ombudsman service 2 get there bank charges back.?

  1. you can do this yourself. you need bank statements for the years that you want to claim back charges. Highlight the charges and total the amounts. Go onto Moneysavingsexpert website and download the draft letter for claiming back charges. Fill in your own details and send to your bank now. Keep copies of all correspondence.


  2. All claims are on hold unless you can prove hardship (see link) remember you can only claim "unfair" charges not all the charges

  3. You can only go to the financial ombudsman after you have made a complaint to the bank and they cannot sort it out. If there is a "freeze" on these kind of claims then there is not much u can do.

    There is a huge court case ongoing in relation to this so not a lot will be done till after this.
