Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he is hoping to secure a move for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, the Ajax skipper, in the summer transfer window.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and it has Harry Redknapp convinced he is the man for the Spurs. Even though the Three Lions went on to win the fixture 1-0, Vertonghen was one of the best players
on the pitch.
Redknapp watched the match closely and observed the 25-year-old defender and decided he would like to bring him to White Hart Lane in the summer transfer window. The English manager admitted he had begun talks but the deal had not yet been concluded.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“Jan is a terrific passer and versatile too. He can play at the heart of defence but also plays very comfortable at left-back.
I hope a deal is done but I don't think it's quite finished yet.”
In the past season, Vertonghen made a total of 42 appearances in all competitions and scored ten goals. According to Harry Redknapp, the defender had shown versatility and great passing skills which made him one of the prime targets for the Spurs in the
summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, the Belgium defender is also keen on a move to the English Premier League. He announced he was close to joining the London side as soon as the next few weeks or even days. Along with Tottenham Hotspur, Vertonghen has been linked with London rivals
Arsenal.
However, it seems highly unlikely that the Belgian defender will be headed to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 since the Spurs have emerged as favourites to secure his services this summer. When asked if he knew where he was headed, Vertonghen revealed he had a fair idea of where
his future lay.
Vertonghen revealed:
“I am a big fan of the Premier League. It is almost the only competition I watch on TV and for me it is the best competition in the world.
I would like to play in the Premier League. I am not in contact every day but I think it could be very close now, maybe a couple of weeks or maybe days.”
