if I have a sentence with a quote in it like this one:

One of the quotes in Huck Finn is “I bet you can’t spell my name says I”.

does the period still go inside the quotes like in a dialouge because I have both normal words and a quote in the same sentence

  1. A period and a comma always go inside quotation marks unless they would change the meaning of the quote.  If the quote ends with a question mark or an exclamation point, keep that inside the quotes and forget the period.

  2. It would go inside.

  3. Righty tighty, lefty loosy.

  4. Inside.

  5. Lydia is correct.

  6. It goes inside, but you also need a comma:

    sentence sentence, "quote."
