Golf: Foam rolling exercise a great solution to stiff muscle
Golf has evolved into a sport that demands good physical strength and stamina, and that is why players now like to learn different exercises to deal with injuries and muscular issues that
put may them off the course for months.
Foam rolling is one of the most effective exercises that golfers have started to take more seriously lately. It may seem that foam rolling has nothing to do with putting and swing skills,
but the exercise has proved much more effective than players have ever thought.
For a player as agile as professional stars, it is important to pay attention to muscle strength because this is something that not only helps in swing and long drives, but putting can also
be improved by doing foam roller exercises.
Since golfers often seek muscle release after playing for hours on the course, foam roller comes into play as it is designed to work on the user’s tights, serratus and ribs.
The basic purpose of foam roller is to massage stiff muscles and tissues that usually get hurt due to body pressure. Players can press their body against the foam in a way that it should allow
muscle movement.
To gain maximum effect, players usually place the roll against their lower body part, covering hips and hamstrings. Another good way to do a workout is to put the foam under calves and exert
maximum body weight on it, rolling it right from the knee down to ankle.
Golf experts say the exercise is best for increasing muscle strength, agility and pain reduction that players often seek after long and tiring matches. They say that despite several other
physical training programmes being used by golfers these days, foam rollers should become the basic ingredient of exercise schedules.
American Jane Park is a player who understands the importance of foam roller more than any other professional golfer, as she has been relying on it to relieve muscle pain. Park had been perfuming
well on the course until she had to get off the course due to stiff muscle and a hurting back.
Sharing her thoughts about how she got around the career-threatening problem, Park said that she was facing a pretty tough time as her game had lost charisma due to debilitating back injury.
She said that she found foam rolling exercise to be the ultimate solution to most of her fitness woes.
Park said that the foam works wonders when it comes to stretched tissues in lower and upper body parts. “You know, foam rolling has really helped me and just stretching in general and getting
massages,” she said.
“It’s like it's hard to describe. It's like this cylindrical… it's very tough, it's very hard, and you just kind of roll your back over it, and yeah, it kind of massages you. And it hurts
a lot of times, but it just gets all the bad stuff out, just like getting a massage”.
