The England national side have been dealt with yet another blow as Chelsea defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 has been ruled out with a double fracture of the jaw.
Another http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699 during
the friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 on Saturday.
The new England manager Roy Hodgson’s worst fears were confirmed after the X-rays confirmed the player had sustained a double fracture of the jaw. He responded by bringing in Martin Kelly as a replacement for the injured Gary Cahill before the European tournament
kicks off.
Along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423 was another player who had to be ruled out of the squad for the European Championships. This leaves Hodgson short of experienced players in defence and midfield ahead of the tournament.
A statement released by the FA read:
“Gary Cahill has been withdrawn from England's Euro 2012 squad following the injury he suffered in the match against Belgium.
The Chelsea defender has two fractures of his jaw, one either side. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 medical team have been in close contact overnight with Cahill's club doctors who will treat him moving forward.”
There is still hope for Hodgson though, who awaits the results of the scans on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895. It is after the scans that it will be determined if the Chelsea skipper can continue to feature for the Three Lions for the European Championships.
It continued:
“Liverpool defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974.
John Terry has been scanned this morning and given the all-clear. He will be re-assessed on Tuesday when the team regroup.”
Despite the possibility of John Terry missing out on the European tournament, Manchester United defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 has not been contacted by England. It seems Hodgson is satisfied with the existing defenders, even if Terry was not declared fit.
