Former NBA star Jay Vincent sentenced to jail over a fraud case: NBA Update

The former National Basketball Association (NBA) star Jay Vincent has been sentenced to jail over a fraud case. His original sentence over this particular fraud case is scheduled on September. 2, but Jay Vincent voluntarily surrendered
his bond and decided to serve the jail. His defence lawyer Tom Clement confirmed Vincent’s decision to go to jail before even official sentence was announced.
Vincent’s official sentence is scheduled on 2nd September over couple of fraud scams. Last year, when the federal prosecutors revealed the scam’s detail, people were stunned as he almost gathered $2 million illegal money
and ruined the lives of those who got defrauded by him. Vincent charged many people to become home inspectors with no legal authority from the government. He showed his fake company as a reputable employment agency which guaranteed employment to whoever invested
in it.
Meanwhile, the federal prosecutors also found another fraud scam by Jay Vincent which involved many amateur basketball players who were defrauded by many agents of Vincent. These agents were given illegal permission to recruit
these players in a professional basketball league. Vincent was accused of writing bad checks while his agents were also accused on the same account. The government was also right regarding Vincent’s immoral continues deeds and called him a public threat as
his two fraud scams virtually ruined thousands of people.
The former Michigan State University star also admitted in the court about what he did in the past. His defence lawyer Tom Clement also confirmed regarding his confession in the court and said, “He wants the process to move forward,
and fully accept responsibility for what he has done.”       
Jay Vincent has played consistently throughout his career. He started his professional basketball career in 1981 but he was already a star before entering into the league. His junior and senior years at the University of Michigan
were incredible. He played alongside with some the NBA’s greats.
He was a teammate of legendry Magic Johnson in 1979 and helped his team to win National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Division 1 Basketball Tournament in 1979. He also won the Big Ten Scoring Championships in his
both years at the University. The NBA scouts were impressed by his early achievements while the Dallas Mavericks were the first team which drafted him 24th overall in the second round 1981 NBA draft and retired in 1990.
