  1. I have done both- I was the credit manager at a large medical company.  Basically this involves collections, posting payments to accounts when checks come in,  issuing credit memos for returns etc.  Also running month end reports.

    Accounts payable is paying the bills for a company.  Matching purchase orders with invoices, making sure that all products billed for were actually received.

    So basically- A.R. you handle the money owed to your company.  A.P. you handle paying the bills your company owes.  I personally love A.R.
