England and Italy took on each other in the quarter finals of the Euro 2012, with both the teams looking to make it to the next round of the tournament and edge closer to winning the coveted trophy.
The match started with Italy not holding back and attacking the Three Lions in just the 4th minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112 went on to strike from thirty yards out and sent his effort crashing against the post.
Following that effort from De Rossi, England came close to scoring in the 5th and the 14th minute. Despite their best efforts, they failed to convert either of those chances.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 zipped back and made a crucial interception to prevent the forward from creating anything.
Once again, it was Balotelli who wasted another glorious opportunity for the Italians in the 41st minute. Pirlo crossed the ball in the box and Cassano went on flick the ball on. Balotelli went on to connect with the ball, but sent his effort well over the bar despite being only four yards out.
Soon after, the half ended, with both the teams being goalless.
As soon as the second half kicked off, De Rossi went on to get two chances to score for the Italians. De Rossi first missed a sitter in the 49th minute, as he sent a volley wide of the target from six yards out. Then in the 52nd minute, he blasted the ball goalwards from thirty yards out.
However, this time around, his effort was blocked by Hart, only for it to fall to Balotelli. The Manchester City player struck the ball well, but Hart made a fine save with his legs to keep the ball out of the goal.
The match then went on to quiet down, but in the 88th minute, Marchisio created ample space in the box. Just as the Italian was about to get his shot across, Johnson went on to make a crucial interception as he gave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 some hope to carry on.
