There's more where that came from

  2. Egypt is safe, and you can aske any one from your friends who were in Egypt before you can come and enjoy with your holiday in Egypt to see the pyramid ,Egyptian museum ,the treasure of the king tut ankh amon ,loxur and Aswan, sharm elsheikh city of peace,hurghada....for more information contact me...ashehata@egypttoplight.net

  3. the best thing is not to understand the language, because if you do you will hear comments in the street about you that will make you hate going there,

for all of you that will give me a thumb down, you definitely know what I mean

  4. Egypt is safe for tourists.  Ideally but not necessarily, if you can travel around with a local.....because tourists are perceived as an easy target and they will overcharge you.  In markets and bizarres, for clothes and other items, they usually banter - have you ever done this?  where a price is negotiated - say they will state that something is 100 egyptian pounds, offer half of that i.e 50, they will probably refuse then say 60 if not then walk away and go to the next place.  You will probably find that they will call you back and compromise.

Clothing: especially this time of year - it is very hot.  I would strongly suggest that you don't walk around with a bikini.  You can however wear sleeveless tops with shorts preferably below the knee.  I have never visited the rural areas but from what I know they may be less open minded about what a female is wearing.  My experience is only from visiting Cairo and Alexandria.  The people there are very aware of the tourists that come from different parts of the world - they can be very enthusiastic and curious about this.  Egyptians, are generally very open to different cultures.  Both male and females are accustomed to Western dress and culture.  Although some of the females cover their heads.  You can buy alcohol there in hotel bars, but I would not advise you to drink outside of the hotels.  If your not keen on the local foods, they do have McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken and other American take aways like that Subway where they make toasted sandwiches I can't remember the name.

The Christians are a minority group there, they belong to the Coptic Christian faith - which is a bit like the Orthodox churches in Greece and Russia.  There are Christian monasteries there and churches - which look very different from the churches here in UK.

I actually got married in Cairo and I loved it.  Their wedding parties last from evening till midnight.  They enjoy their food and music and dancing.  You can get some nice jazzy dresses, skirts and tops from there.  I would suggest you visit a mall for this.  You can find good jewellery from the bazaars and markets.  Do take a small phrase book though.

There are a small group of idiots that are against the West and the authorities are full aware of this.  As you know there a groups like this in England as well.  Egypt is a developing country and alot of people there rely on tourists for their livelihoods.

Trust me, do go and enjoy yourself.

  5. Don't believe the glossy travel mags....it's hot ,smelly and dirty.
