West Ham striker Dean Ashton was forced to retire aged just 26-years-old last December. Do the Hammers miss him?

    No, noone misses him he was rubbish, like a short, fat, poor-man's Alan Shearer. He would be nowhere near the England team if he was still going.

    Yeah they miss him, and so do the England team

    He's a much better footballer than big Carlton, and would work make an excellent companion to Rooney, if only his body would allow

    Had Ashton remained injury free, it’s likely that he would have been West Ham’s most prolific striker. Before his injury problems, he was in contention for a place in the England squad and won his first cap in May 2008 against Trinidad and Tobago.

    The Hammers will miss him, but Carlton Cole has capitalised on his opportunity this season; while new signings Mido, Benni McCarthy and Brazilian Ilan have come in over the January transfer window to bolster Gianfranco Zola’s attacking options.
