De Rossi eyeing top three finish but hoping for a miracle: Serie A news
A.S Roma midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112, believes that it will take something special for the Giallorossi to finish among the top three this season.
Roma have struggled in the 2011/12 Serie A season and have picked up only 17 points from 13 matches played thus far. The capital side has suffered consecutive defeats in their last two league games and the fans have started to
call for the manager’s sacking.
Roma already drift the third placed Udinese by 10 points and De Rossi desperately wants his team to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the next season. However, the influential midfielder is coy about his team’s chances
of qualifying for Europe and believes that only a miracle could help them achieve their objectives.
While talking to the reporters, De Rossi said, “The aim is to try and get into the top three and qualify for the Champions League. However, I have to admit that it would take a miracle for that to happen.”
The Italian international showed his full support for the under-fire manager, Luis Enrique, and believes that every project requires time to excel and same is the case with the Giallorossi. The 28-year-old added that he cannot
compare Enrique with any other coach. However, he added that former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 boss, Luciano Spalletti, also underwent a similar period and eventually the results started to come after the Christmas break.
De Rossi is confident that fortunes will change for Enrique after Christmas and the club can get back to winning ways.
“It’s hard to compare Luis Enrique with any other Coach that I know. If I had to say someone then it would be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti. While he was in charge, we started to play really well after the Christmas break. Sometimes Coaches
just need a little bit of time before they succeed.” added the playmaker
Roma face a mountainous task in their next game as they host league leaders, Juventus, on Monday, December 12, 2011. After the Juventus game, they will travel to Stadio San Paolo to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003. The Giallorossi are placed 8th
in the league table equal on points with Catania and Cagliari.
