Dallas Cowboys DE Sean Lissemore expects to be fully fit in training camp – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sean Lissemore was unable to participate fully in all the activities this offseason as he missed drills during minicamp and organised team activities owing to a rib injury, but the player seems confident about joining his teammates
in training camp fully fit and healthy.
Even his coaches expect him to be fit by training camp and believe that he has the potential to catch up what he has missed so far.
Entering his third year with the team, Lissemore is still looking for an opportunity to get the starting role.
A seventh-round pick in the 2010 draft, Lissemore only appeared in two games in his rookie season. Last year, he played all 16 games of the regular season without starting any and registered a total of 28 tackles and 2.0 sacks.
While he was injured and could not participate in all offseason activities, Lissemore did not waste time and instead utilised it in a best possible manner. According to Star-Telegram, he said:
“It's kind of frustrating to be out, but you've got to take advantage of things and look at them in a positive way. I use this as an opportunity to look at a lot of film, study a lot of players in the league who are good players at the position I'm playing,
and see what they do.”
Meanwhile, Cowboys defensive coaches have also hoped that the player will easily make up for the lost time. Cowboys defensive line coach Brian Baker said:
"Is he going to be behind for where he wanted to be in training camp? Yes. But is he going to be too far behind to compete to get one of those solid rotation roles, which is what I expect of him? No."
Although Lissemore has not received much playing time on the field yet, the coaches are confident of his abilities.
In the upcoming season, Lissemore is again not going to be their starter but defensive coordinator Rob Ryan believes that Lissemore has what it takes to become the starter.
Ryan is of the view that if someone gets injured in the upcoming season then Lissemore can easily fill in his shoes to become the starter.
