I was stopped by police for a motoring offence in November 97

but only received Court summons 2 weeks ago. Is there a time limit within which police must issue summons for the offence?

see this link, but I think the summons should be issued within 6 months.

  2. I would have thought 30 days before a fine is issued if you have been issued a fine and ignored it then there is no timescale.

  3. wow... most misdemeanor offenses carry a 2 year limit... guess it depends on your state...

  4. Do you really mean Nov 97?

If so, then I think they can't expect you to recall anything about it, and nor can they expect the police officers to recall events accurately.

If you mean Nov 07, then sorry, not sure, but I think speeding is meant to be a few weeks, as too long and how would you recall if it was you driving or your partner or other legal driver.
