Co-op. what is it?!?!?

what is it? my friend said im going with her tomorrow when i spend the weekend with her and i don't know what it is! can anyone help?

I'm from Tennessee, and when someone says Co-op around me, I automatically think of the Farmers Co-op. It is a business that is "cooperatively" owned(hence co-op) by local farmers. The Co-op has everything you could need for your farm and/or home. It has everything from livestock fencing, crop fertilizers, and farm implements to dog food, bug sprays, and automotive tires.

All of the local farmers band together in a co-op to get better prices on the things they'll need for their farms and homes. Because the more you buy at a time, the better price you get. They also sell to the general public to make a profit to further offset their costs for farm supplies.

The Co-op is a great place to shop for almost anything you could need around the house. I hope you enjoy....and buy something too.....farmers always need a helping hand.
