Digging through the FAR isn't helping me on this one......two more lessons before the Solo, if you can help please do

  1. Usually you will hear on the ATIS; "sky clear below 12,000".


  2. Any cloud type can form a ceiling.  The lowest layer of clouds  classified as "broken" or "overcast" is the ceiling.

  3. ceiling is the lowest layer of cloud covering more than half the sky below 20,000ft.

  4. I agree with John R- lowest reported broken or overcast layer is a cieling.
