China’s young and talented shuttler, Chen Long strolled into Men’s Singles quarter-final as he showed no mercy to Hsuan Yi Hsueh in their round-of-16 contest of the 2011 China Masters Super Series, in China, on September 15.
Long is ranked at Number Four in the Men’s Singles world rankings, and is also the third seed in the draw of the China Masters. He played relaxed and positive badminton against the Taipei shuttler and made his mark over him in remarkable fashion. The Chinese
took 41 minutes to crush his opponent in the straight set pre-quarter-final battle.
The first game of this Men’s Singles fight was entertaining in the starting half, as both players kept the same pace of the rallies. Until the break, the tall Chinese was ahead of Hsuan Yi at 11-9, in the opening part of the first game.
After the one-minute rest, the Chinese changed his strategy to dominate the game. The exchange of long rallies between the two talented shuttlers made the Chinese crowd crazy. Long became fast at the net and executed spinning net shots which helped him in
winning the first game with the margin of 21-15 in 25 minutes.
Chen Long delivered an impressive performance in the second game of the Men’s Singles match as he played fast badminton. He employed strong pushes and forced his rival to remain in a defensive position. The Chinese put more pressure on his opponent by executing
net killings and reached at 11-6 in the first-half.
After getting back into the court from the one-minute break, Hsuan Yi tried to catch up with the pace of the rallies, but he failed to reduce the score difference as his challenger was far ahead. Long remained calm throughout the second game and ended it
in striking fashion with a margin of 21-12, in just 16 minutes. Long won the battle with the score of 21-16 and 21-12 in 41 minutes.
In the quarter-final, the Chinese will take on Korea’s Lee Hyun Il who crushed Yan Kit Chan of Hong Kong in the previous round.
