Chie Arimura maintains her lead by one stroke after three rounds at the HSBC Women’s Champions
Chie Arimura of Japan maintains her lead after three rounds of the HSBC Women’s Champions at Tanah Merah Golf and Country Club in Singapore. The 23-year-old golfer carded one under par 71 to post a total aggregate of 11 under par 205 after three days of
the event to retain her lead by one stroke over Australian Karrie Webb.
Arimura scored two birdies and a bogey in the third round. She birdied at the ninth and 11th hole while the bogey was scored at the par-four 17th. The world number 19, Arimura, is keen to gather her first victory outside Japan where
she has been victorious six times on the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA). "I might be nervous," Arimura said. "Just competing against those great players is even hard for me to believe, even now, it's like a dream."
The legendary Karrie Webb of Australia, maintained her second spot on the leader board for the third day of the US $1.4 Million event. Webb carded two under par 70 to post a total aggregate of 10 under par 206 for three rounds. The hall of famer Webb, 36,
has won 36 titles in her illustrious career, including a record setting seven majors.
She was able to post four birdies in the round with a few blemishes. She birdied the second, fifth, ninth and 18thhole. Webb feels that the difference of one stroke would not pose much difficulty on the final day.  "I feel pretty fortunate to
only be one shot behind," Webb said "I've got a great opportunity to win."
The world number one, Yani Tseng of Taiwan, shared the third spot after firing the second best round of the day at three under par 69. She shared the third spot with Na Yeon Choi and Sun Young Yoo of South Korea. Tseng falls back by five strokes to win her
fourth tournament in four weeks. "It's a big gap (from the lead), but this is golf, you never know until the last putt drops," she said.
The day’s best round was posted by In-Kyung Kim of South Korea at five under par 67. She posted a string of birdies the entire day with only one blemish coming late in the round at the par-four 18th.  The defending champion, Ai Miyazato of Japan,
shared the eighth spot at the leader board with Mika Miyazato of Japan and Cristie Kerr of the United States. She carded two under par 70 for the total aggregate of two under par 214 after three rounds. Michelle Wie of the United States posted the worst round
of her career with five over par 77. She is tied for the 35th spot.
The winner of the tournament will be decided on the fourth day of the star studded 63-player tournament.
