Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale’s impressive beginning in first major-league start
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale is off to a brilliant start as he pitched for the first time as starter in the 2012 Major League Baseball season against the Cleveland Indians on Saturday and won the game for his team 4-2 in over six innings allowing one run with three hits, five struck-outs and two walks.
“Any time you jump right out of the gate with three runs, it brings energy, those first three runs set the tone for the rest of the game.” said sale after the game.
Later, the White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski also appreciated his teammate and his tremendous performance for the team.
Pierzynski said in detail for his teammate and for the win White Sox got, “When he throws his stuff over the plate, it’s as good as anybody, It’s a matter of him harnessing it. He’s still pretty darn young. We talked about trying to get through the first inning because even [in an exhibition game last week] in Houston, he was a little too excited, I was happiest for Morel to get that big two-out hit after what he’s been through, That was huge.”
Chris Sale is coming with a hard last season in which he was not so influential and kept the White Sox management guessing on his potential comeback. However, whole season went passed, but he struggled to gain any momentum and proved no good for the White Sox.
On the other hand, this year, since the start of this Major League Baseball competition and also from start of the 2012 Spring Training, Sale is performing with a consistent pace and those little steps forward now proving valuable for the White Sox.
He is currently playing 1.35 ERA along with five strike-outs and 0.75 WHIP while his 2.50 career ERA along with 12 saves, 116 strike-outs and 1.08 WHIIP also puts him in the young and well balanced pitchers.
Experts believe that this is a healthy sign for the White Sox who certainly needed that kind of performance from one of their fast pitchers.
