Chicago White Sox first-baseman Adam Dunn tries to forget his miserable last season – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox first baseman is trying his hard-out to forget about last season’s miserable memories where he could not do well with a .159 hitting average along with only 11 home-runs, 42 RBIs and inconsistent OBP of .292. This record stood tall at the lowest average by a hitter with 400 plate appearances since Joe Gerhardt hit .155 for the 1885 New York Giants.
Recently, Dunn has stated in the media in a telephone interview from his home town Houston-area, “During the first week, I was OK. But I couldn't shake it for a while. I'm ready to go, I don't need another month. I'm not hitting for four hours five times a week, I know it sounds stupid."
He added with more passion and hoped for a new beginning saying, “But I'm having fun. We will miss some people from last year. One of the guys is a 45-year-old former minor league pitcher who still thinks he has it. But it's fine. For the most part, I feel the same as I did last year, in some ways, we have the same team and there will be the same expectations.”
Experts believe, Dunn has learnt quite a brief lesson from last season’s thrashing and now he is totally focused on his upcoming season assignment. Back-home, Dunn is also doing offseason batting practice with great energy. His .159 average and 177 strike-outs still haunt him while he wants to change these stats as quickly as possible and anxiously waiting for the next season to start.
Previously, in 2010, Dunn averaged .260 with 38 home-runs including a career-high 36 doubles and 103 RBI for the Washington Nationals receiving a tremendous amount of appreciation from many baseball experts. Later revealed, that only Ralph Kiner, Eddie Mathews and Albert Pujols have hit more homers in their initial 10 seasons than Dunn.
Earlier, from 2004 to 2010, Dunn had a very good average of hitting 40 home-runs per season and from 2005 to 2008, Dunn hit precisely 40 home-runs each season which still a record in the White Sox roster.
