Chelsea defender, David Luiz happy to be at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea central defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, having arrived at Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window from Benfica. The 23-year-old Brazilian International arrived at the London club on the deadline day of the winter transfer
window for a fee of £23 million and made an instant impact.
While his arrival was shadowed by that of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 International, is still goal less after making various
appearances for Chelsea in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Luiz, on the other hand, has managed to score twice in seven appearances, having only played in the English Premier League. The 23-year-old is ineligible to play for Chelsea in the Champions League since he is cup-tied in the European competition. However,
his contributions in the domestic league have been more than sufficient for the Blues.
As happy as Chelsea are to welcome a talented footballer like him in their squad, the former Benfica defender revealed he was thrilled to be playing for the Blues. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 International said he felt Chelsea was one of the best clubs in Europe and added,
“I am very happy. Happy to be in the best league in the world and playing well.”
Luiz admitted he felt the club had done a lot to accommodate him halfway through the season, he continued, “Chelsea have done a lot for me and made it easy just to focus on the football even though I have arrived halfway through the season and I am still
looking for a place to live. The most important thing is to help Chelsea in the competition I can play in.”
He revealed it was hard watching from the sidelines in the Champions League fixtures, “It is frustrating not being able to play in the Champions League because every player loves to be involved but I feel involved during the week when I train with my colleagues.
I try to motivate them and I give them support.”
Chelsea travels to Old Trafford for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final in midweek. The Blues will attempt to overturn a 1-0 deficit, which means they will have to score two or more goals against Manchester United. The Red Devils, on
the other hand, simply have to keep a clean sheet to make it to the next round of the European competition.
