Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas on dealing with racism in football and Sepp Blatter’s apology
It seems http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Andre Villas-Boas has accepted Sepp Blatter’s apology after the accusation on Blues skipper John Terry of racial abuse by FIFA. While he did not agree with Blatter’s way of settling the matter, which was by a handshake between the
two players, the young Portuguese manager was more than happy with the apology.
Villas-Boas said in an interview:
“Blatter made his apologies today and end of story.”
He added:
“When a person assumes he has made a mistake, it's for all of us to accept a mistake was made. It's good that person is able to come out and retract the words that he said.”
The 34-year-old was careful not to comment on Blatter’s position at FIFA, as most of his counterparts have done so in the past. He revealed he was only concerned with the matter regarding his captain, which had gone as far as a police investigation after
the 1-0 loss to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Ferdinand-c6260.
Villas-Boas revealed:
“It should be banned from the sport in any kind of way, in every country, but different countries react differently.
Not that all of them aren't fighting discrimination and racism, but there are different cultural behaviours.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss felt that while different countries termed different things as racist, an effort should be made to completely kick racism out of football. He urged all the countries to get involved in the effort and make it a priority, amongst other
things. After the incident with Terry especially, Villas-Boas will definitely take this issue seriously.
He continued:
“All of the countries are involved in different kinds of ways in fighting discrimination and racism.
It plays a decisive part for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 to be one of the most important nations in taking it through.”
