Charlie’s Vic to sweep the Corner House Bar Ballymoate Mares Handicap Hurdle at Sligo
The Corner House Bar Ballymoate Mares Handicap Hurdle will be staged at Sligo over two miles and four furlongs on Wednesday, 23rd May. Among the line-up of sixteen, Charlie’s Vic is the most promising entry and has all the chances of taking away the €10,523 prize money today.
Old Vic’s five-year-old chestnut mare out of mare, Scoop Thirty Nine, has raced four times during the new season out of which she has won twice, scored second and ended fourth eventually.
She cracked into the new season on 26th January in the Gosforth Decorating & Building Services Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Newcastle over two miles. The race was won by the 4/6 favourite, Lucia Bay who led Charlie’s Vic by five lengths.
The runner up of the race was paired up with D. R. Fox for the race.
Graceful Descent settled third in line behind the winner.
Not waiting for too long to strike the seasonal debut, she captured the Punchestown.Com For Festival Offers Mares Maiden Hurdle on 22nd February at Punchestown over two miles and four furlongs.
She led the field by an amazing twenty-one lengths with D. R. Fox onboard once again.
Finishing the closest to the winner was Tango Moll and catching up with the third position was Saddlenomore.
The evening’s favourite of the race, Thynetocatcher, ended fifth.
She monopolised the very next chance too and claimed the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Novice Hurdle on 7th March at Downpatrick over two miles and two furlongs.
This time she won as the ¼ favourite of the race and was riding with D. R. Fox as usual. Qualifying as the runner up of the race was Nanna Maura who strode through the four lengths by which the winner led.
Coming at terms with the third position was Kasszec.
She could not bag a seasonal hat trick though as she missed the third race that was to entitle her to a hat trick.
She finished fourth in the Grade 3 Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Fillies Scheme European Breeders Fund Mares Hurdle on 28th April at Punchestown over two miles and two furlongs.
The race was won by Mae’s Choice.
Charlie’s Vic leads the line-up with the best credentials today even though she has not raced at Sligo before.
