For example, if I'm saying that one author writes philisophically and the other one writes kind of matter-of-fact and frank

Does writing approach have anything to do with an author's style?

  2. I am pretty sure you should find a better way to say "writing approach" Usually Author's style refers to things such as the author's diction, tone, syntax, mood, imagery etc.

    I think what you are thinking of is tone or mood
