Can turkey vultures hurt dogs or small children?

I have noticed 2 turkey vultures in our yard (5 acres of grass, with mostly farmland behind and woods to the sides), and I have a 8 month old and 2 year old. We also have a husky we leave out for extended periods of time. Just curious if I have anything to worry about. I just noticed them yesterday and thought they were just hawks until I got the binoculors out.

To scare away the vultures you must take a slab of meat and strap it to your dog, your dog will run around and the vultures will be afraid and leave, problem solved. (note you may also do this with your children, but dont let child services know, got busted twice for that s**t)
