Can silverfish hurt you?

everyday i see silverfish in the walls,,so i wanted to know if they can hurt me and my kids,

Yes, they spread poisonous gas through respiration your family is at risk.

No they won't hurt you, but you are living in Humid (possibly Damp) conditions. That is not healthy and you need to find out why your place is so damp.

I had a leak in my shower, if I hadn't noticed the Silverfish, I wouldn't have known about the leak until it had rotted through the floor boards.

Apparently silverfish like eating glue, wallpaper is full of the stuff and when its damp its perfect food for them.

I wouldn't worry about the silverfish themselves, but they are a favorite food of brown spiders which, of course, can be dangerous.

I would have an exterminator check things out.

No they won't hurt you.  However, they are a sign that there's an on going damp situation somewhere in your home.  Depending on how wet and where, it could lead to a mold problem.  That could be quite harmful.

Meanwhile they're munching away on glue, paper(books) and any number of things in your home.  They may even get into boxed foods such as cereal.
