I would suggest staying closer to downtown, maybe the Radisson on Portage Avenue. There you are close enough to everything. it shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes to get anywhere in the city by car, easier to get a cab and there are lots of buses. Some places could even be walking distance, like the Legislature building, the Forks and some excellent dinning.
