Camelot’s next stop is likely to be the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes
Trainers are lining up their runners for an entry in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, the next big event on the cards on 21st July, 2012. The initial list of 37 entries includes big names like Camelot, Monterosso and Danedream
among others.
Camelot has already raised his esteem and is declared a hero with massive victories in the Qipco 2000 Guineas Stakes and the Investec Derby. The Aidan O’Brien trained three-year-old colt is a potential Triple Crown winner, if he wins the Ladbrokes St. Leger
in September 2012.
The son of Montjeu, out of mare Tarfah, could also compete in the Irish Derby, but so far, it looks like he will be trying his luck at Ascot. The victory in the Investec Derby was beyond impressive as he defeated Main Sequence by 5 lengths at Epsom on 2nd
June, 2012.
Was, daughter of Galileo, out of mare Alluring Park, may also compete and with her recent victory in the Investec Oaks at Epsom, she may be able to succeed.
Courtesy of her brisk pace, she dominated the 1 mile and 4 furlong track and defeated Shirocco Star by a small margin of a neck on 1 June, 2012.
Monterosso, winner of the Dubai World Cup, is also stirring interest in the market since this will be his first race since his magnificent victory in the Group 1 event at Meydan, on 31st March, 2012, where he defeated Capponi by 3 lengths.
On 18th June, 2012, the five-year-old gelding competed at Ascot and was crowned the winner of the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes, finishing 2 ¼ lengths ahead of Arctic Cosmos. He might use his familiarity of the track to bag the victory.
The German-bred Danedream will also be competing and at a mere age of four, the filly has competed at various venues around the world, gaining tremendous amount of experience.
Peter Schiergen’s trainee recently claimed a victory in the Group 2 Grosser Preis Der Badischen Unternehmer at Baden-Baden, where she raced as a favourite and defeated Ovambo Queen by ¾ of a length.
