Big Buck’s to rise against all odds in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle
Just as the last three years it was expected from the hurdle champion of Paul Nicholls’ trained Big Buck’s, he started off the 2012 campaign as the favourite winner of the Grade 2 Sportingbet Long Distance Hurdle on 1st December, 2012 at Newbury race course over three mile and half a furlong. With the nine length success when racing with the genius of his profession, Ruby Walsh, made the walls of his own league way stronger by winning the 18th race in a row.
Last that he missed a race was in 2008.
Done with clearing accounts with one record breaking event, the nine-year-old bay/brown gelding has become the most preferred betting option for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle for a straight enviable fifth year now.
Paddy Power said: "After Big Buck's casual drubbing of the opposition in Saturday's Long Distance Hurdle, Voler La Vedette was one of his main rivals, albeit a distant one, in the World Hurdle market.”
"She rather fluffed her lines at Fairyhouse and although http://www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?horse_id=735305#topHorseTabs=horse_race_record&bottomHorseTabs=horse_form has thrown his hat in the ring, we had to cut Big Buck's as punters, including one backer who had €40,000 on him with us at 5-4 on Saturday, can only see one realistic winner."
Willie Mullins trained, Zaidpour’s 2 ½ length success in the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle on 2nd December, 2012 at Fairyhouse over two miles and four furlongs, has impacted the betting patterns which have started bringing the rivals closer to the chances of Big Buck’s.
The winner is now as short as 12 – 1 for the great hurdle challenge. Raising against the odds somewhere on the same lines is the Dessie Hughes’ trained, Our Conor, who has been cut short to 16 – 1 as he became the first ever Irish trained winner of the Triumph Hurdle ever since 2002.
Jezki too is closing in the betting circles after the third win and is currently backed by 8 – 1 odds. He gets popularity as being the highly likely success story of the William Hill sponsored, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
Whatever direction the betting patterns may take, the mighty Big Buck’s has stayed on with his relentless form for four years now.
