If you're playing 5 card majors, this isn't a reverse. Your partner should consider that you may have 4 or 5D and 4S and a standard opening bid. Think of it as if you had 5D and 4S - it wouldn't then be a reverse, even with 4 card majors, but you'd still likely want to show the 4 card spade suit. All your partner really knows is that you don't have 5 or more Spades.
