Bears’ running back Matt Forte out indefinitely with knee injury – NFL News
Chicago Bears are reeling from another ill timed injury. This time Star running back Matt Forte is out for an indefinite period after a knee injury during Bears 10-3 loss to Kansas City Chiefs at the Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Chicago Bears are already missing their regular quarterback Jay Cutler who is out with a thumb fracture sustained during the win over San Diego Chargers in game week 11 of the National Football League.
Forte got the injury on his right knee during the first quarter against Chiefs. The running back was looking to make a run but got hit by Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson on the knee leading to the injury. Forte was on the ground
for a long time as he was tended to by medical staff but left the field under his own power.
"I saw (the hole)," Forte said. "I planted my leg in the ground to go to the left, to go outside. (Johnson) kind of slipped under the block, hit me right in the knee. It was a good play by him. Unfortunately, his helmet hit me
right on the knee and my leg was planted in the ground."
According to Forte the medial collateral ligament injury takes around two to six weeks to heal completely and no timetable can be given currently on his return.
Bears fans will be anxious for a speedy recovery as both their star players remain out of the field indefinitely. Quarterback Jay Cutler has been out for the past two weeks and is not going to be returning anytime soon and the
Bears have lost both games without their star quarterback as replacement Caleb Hanie continues to struggle for form.
With Forte out Bears playoff chances look bleaker by the day and if their current run continues Chicago might lose their head-to-head advantage against the two other franchises vying for the Wildcard playoff spots.
Matt Forte however is doing everything to hurry up the healing process and took an injection of Platelet Rich Plasma into the injury.
"I don't want to give a timetable because I really don't know exactly how long it's going to take, because it varies," Forte said. "I'm just going to do everything I can. I got the PRP shot. That makes it heal up faster."
