Aston Villa’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Albrighton-c23470: “We've got ourselves in a bit of a mess”
Aston Villa’s young midfielder, Marc Albrighton has come out and admitted that his team is going through tough times.
Villa lost 2-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, which was their 4th defeat in their last 5 English Premier League matches.
Over the years, Aston Villa has built up its reputation for a team that consistently challenges for the 4th spot; however, this season’s story has been a bit different.
The result leaves them 6th from bottom, just 4 points ahead of 17th placed Fulham FC.
However, Albrighton remains unfazed by the poor results in previous matches and claims that not all was lost for the Villans.
He said, “It's going to be tough to get out of it, but there's nobody who can put that right other than the players. We just have to stick together as a group and hopefully we'll pull something out of the bag. We've got ourselves
in a bit of a mess, and we just need to pull together to get ourselves out of it.”
Marc, who has been a youth player for Aston Villa since 1998, was promoted to the 1st team in 2009.
Since then, he has been a revelation in midfield and has been able to fill in the void left by the departures of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423 to Manchester City.
Albrighton has also netted in 4 times for The Lions in 17 league appearances this season.
Villa have a couple of tough fixtures coming their way in the Premier League, where their abilities to perform under pressure will be tested to the limits.
They face Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium on 28th December, before making a trip to Stamford Bridge to face champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC on 2nd January.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international pinned the match against City as a “must-win” game.
He said, “The next two games are obviously massive, but then every game we play from now until the end of the season is going to be like that. Against Manchester City we just have to pull our socks up and get stuck in again. We're
going there with not a lot to lose. No matter who is in front of us, it's 11 v 11 out on the pitch, and we have to win this game.”
