Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny denies having said he should be made Arsenal’s captain
Arsenal goalkeeper and Polish international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 has denied to have ever asked to be captain of Arsenal. The keeper’s comments regarding his ambition to one day be the captain of the Gunners had been misinterpreted by the media and they made
it seem like the player felt that he was more deserving of the captaincy at the club, as opposed to Robin Van Persie.
Having heard what the media had to say about his comments, he took to his Twitter account ot clear the air and make his point across.
Szczesny’s Twitter account is quoted to have said: “I got annoyed with a few things about myself in the media recently so I'm going to set the record straight.
“I never said I deserve [the] http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 armband. I said that I would love to one day take [the] responsibilty of being an Arsenal skipper.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 as a skipper and he fully deserves [the] armband.”
The keeper then talked about his injuries and why he had to pull out of the Polish national team, as he went on to add:
“I am injured and had to be pulled out of Polish national team. Hope to recover as soon as possible. (That's for Polish media.)
The keeper then decided to get a little humorous as he laughed off the rumours that stated the keeper could soon be on his way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
He added: “Please continue the 'Szczesny to Barcelona' rumours. Makes me laugh every time I read it. Haha.”
This is not the first time that the media has gone ahead and twisted around what a player said, just to make it sound a whole lot more interesting to the readers. Szczesny has been giving the Gunners a hundred and ten percent every time that he steps on
the pitch and as a result many strongly believe that he will one day become the captain of the North London club.
As far as a move away from Arsenal is concerned, it seems more than unlikely for the player to be leaving the team in the near future, unless of course something rather dramatic happens and forces him to leave the team that made him the player that he is
today.
