Arsène Wenger wants Mesut Özil
It is reported that Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger will make a £12million bid for Werder Bremen’s Mesut Özil.
The 21-year-old is attracting interest from the Premier League after being outstanding for Bremen over the past few seasons, and was the stand out player in the Bundesliga throughout the last campaign.
His eye for a pass and attacking style of play made him the top player for assists last season, and his ability to link up with the strikers will fit into Arsenal’s way of playing. He is also a versatile player, with the ability to play off the strikers, and across the midfield.
Özil has made a name for himself by becoming a key player in Bremen’s attack, clocking up 34 assists in the past three seasons.
Wenger has stated Özil would be a fine replacement for Cesc Fàbregas if the Spaniard departed the Emirates this summer, with Barcelona continuing to court the Arsenal skipper.
Özil will be one of the men to look out for at the World Cup with Germany in South Africa, and is an integral part of the national side.
